It has been rumored that laptop sales /4/increase due to the downward spiral of tablets.

There is a revival of laptop sales as is evident from the crash in tablet purchases. According to a CEO who was interviewed recently by Re/code, people have diverse choices nowadays.

Thus they could multitask with PCs, tablets, laptops and mobile phones at one and the same time. And part of the reason behind the laptop renaissance was the fact that laptops were more flexible and served as tablet-cum-laptops.

Best Buy CEO, Hubert Joly, said, “We’ve actually had a revival of the PC business at Best Buy [in the company’s first quarter]. Part of it was that Microsoft stopped supporting the old version.”

Meanwhile, the tablet market had crashed thus providing a much-needed niche for the laptop economy to build its home on the refuse of the former.

The limits and borders between various products of information technology were becoming fluid and impermanent. Take the Microsoft Surface…it is a mix of the two so you can call it a hybrid gadget of sorts.

“The tablets boomed and now are crashing. The volume has really gone down in the last several months. But I think the laptop has something of a revival because it’s becoming more versatile,” Joly said.

“So, with the two-in-ones, you have the opportunity to have both a tablet and laptop, and that’s appealing to students in particular. So you have an evolution. The boundaries are not as well defined as they used to be.”

On the other hand, the future depended upon creativity which of course has no limits. It is a jungle out there and technology can always arrive in the nick of time to the rescue.

““Crashed” is a strong word. So, the tablets have been an unbelievable phenomenon. I don’t think there’s a category that ever took off so quickly and so big in the history of tech,” said Best Buy CEO.

“The issue has then been that, once you have a tablet of a certain generation, it’s not clear that you have to move on to the next generation.”

Besides this, the reduction in prices means that laptops which used to cost a lot are now available at one-third of their previous price. And while tablets were quite an iconoclastic thing when they came for the first time their time has passed by now.

More innovative things lie on the horizon. Various contraptions are merging with one another and the future sure looks brighter than a hundred watt light bulb.

With Apple and Samsung being at constant war with each other, the competition is just beginning to heat up. Who knows what the times to come /4/hold in store.

Maybe a revival and restoration of laptops lies in the futuristic scenario. And although this might seem hard to believe, it could turn out to be one of those paradoxes that end up being a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Tablets have had their day in the sun. Now it is back to basics for the world of cutting edge technology. And laptops are in no matter how odd some /4/deem this to be.
