Lindsay Lohan and her brother wanted to break into the celebrity app business with Vigme, but now a judge issued a restraining order.
Celebrity apps can be a huge money maker. Just see how successful Kim Kardashian’s Hollywood app is. Now Lindsay Lohan and her brother Michael Lohan Jr. were about to launch a mobile social commerce app named Vigme. The app got stopped in its tracks by a lawsuit from a competitor who claims that Lohan’s stole his idea and breached contracts.
Fima Potik, founder of Spotted Friend, was apparently making a deal with Lindsay Lohan last year to become part of the Spotted Friend company. She would have been in charge to attract celebs. The lawsuit raises several claims including reach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty and loyalty, misappropriation of trade secrets and unfair competition. The lawsuit also demands a permanent injunction against Vigme. The value associated to the trade-secret lawsuit is huge $60m.
The Hollywood Reporter has all the details of the drama. Drama and business do not mix well. We will see how this will play out and if Lindsay Lohan will be able to launch an app or not.
