CBS announced PATRIOTS’ DAY a live action movie of the Boston Marathon Bombing, based upon the account of Commissioner Ed Davis in conjunction with the ’60 minutes’ story broadcasted previously.

Mark Wahlberg will be one the producers of an upcoming movie based upon the Boston Marathon Bombing. The movie will be entitled PATRIOTS’ DAY and will be made under the banner of the CBS films. Other producers include Scott Stuber, Dylan Clark, Stephen Levinson and Michael Radutzky. The theatrical motion picture will chronicle the events of the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing based upon the accounts of the Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis. Matt Charman will be writing the screenplay and Nicholas Nesbitt will be executive producing the film.

The Boston Marathon bombers were apprehended by a joint involvement of Commissioner Davis FBI, Watertown Police Department, Boston Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police. The team used sophisticated state of the art technology to locate the suspects and put the city of Boston under lockdown. The movie will be filmed on the five day search operation carried by the team which led to the siege of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev from Watertown and will be presented as an intense thriller.

According to Terry Press the team they have assembled for the project is determined to give a personal perspective at the developments of the Boston Bombing. Press further elaborated the movie will show how the law enforcement worked to the best of their patriotic abilities to capture the assailant when the eyes of the entire world was on Boston.

Commissioner Davis has had a long and distinguished career in the law enforcement, until 2013 when he retired and currently serves as a security analyst on WBZ News. CBS has already acquired the life rights from Ed Davis to make a movie on his personal accounts. Matt Charman who previously worked with the likes of Steven Spielberg is currently writing the screenplay for the PATRIOTS’ DAY based on Davis’ personal account.

PATRIOTS’ DAY will also be marking the first time CBS films will be working with the producer Michael Radutzky, previously produced the longest running program ever ’60 Minutes’ and was also recently made the CBS creative development unit head. Radutzky previously appeared in a ‘60 minutes’ special chronicling the Boston Marathon Bombing and brought Ed Davis’ story to light. Similarly Radutzky is also attached to the live action movie version of Davis’ account at the Boston Bombing Marathon.
