The “Sherlock” actor will join Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson in the Captain America: Civil War
Marten Freeman is the latest to join the cast of upcoming superhero film Captain America: Civil War
Marvel made this announcement on Tuesday that British actor Martin Freeman, best known for his roles Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit series, Dr. John Watson in Sherlock and Tim Canterbury from The Office, will join the sequel of Captain America series.
“From his role as Bilbo Baggins and Doctor Watson to Tim in ‘The Office,’ Martin’s range from the dramatic to comedic has constantly impressed us,” Kevin Feige, the producer of Captain America: Civil War, said in a statement published on Marvel.com. “We couldn’t be more honored or excited to have such a talented actor join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
So, that was the confirmation about Martin’s inclusion in the film but unlike the other cast, details about his character have not been revealed yet. Nevertheless, Martin Freeman is now a part of a star-studded lineup which will feature Chris Evans as the Captain America, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow. Other cast includes Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Chadwick Boseman, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen and Daniel Bruhi. The upcoming film is bringing more superheroes and villains than the original film and its successor as many new characters like Iron Man, Hawkeye, Black Panther and Scarlet Witch are making their way into the film.
The directors of the film are brothers Anthony and Joe Russo who made their feature film debut with Captain America: The Winter Soldier, while the script has been written by duo Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and is build around a comic book titled “Civil War” by Mark Miller. The shooting of the film is currently underway at Pinewood Atlanta Studios in Georgia. The additional filming will be done Puerto Rico and Berlin. The film will premiere on /4/6, 2016.
