The agents come to term with the death of Trip with characters giving off emotional performances regarding death and remorse.

The latest episode of the Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was all about dealing with losing a team mate. The crew is shown to be reeling from the death of Agent Trip. The episode was an emotional filled whirlwind with every character shown dealing with the death of a friend and we get to see more insight of the personal turmoil of each character than before.

The episode began with a young man teleporting around a sealed room who had no eyes. The pace of the episode was quite fast and had a subtle grace in showcasing the death of a character, with a few flashbacks shown from each character’s past.

The episode had the darkest theme so far in the second season as Coulson and his crew are shown having to watch and carry the shattered corpse of their comrade. In other plot line some agents were having their throats ripped out by an Inhuman, a suicide attempt and murder plots being hatched that gave the episode a fast paced but depressive vibe as the exploration of the dark side seemed stronger. The numerous low points /4/serve to make the show better in the coming episode as S.H.I.E.L.D is supposedly the last resistance and designed to deal with all the atrocities.

The most touching scene of the episode was when we see Coulson informing Trip’s mother that he died during duty and showed how vulnerable the leader really is regarding his crew. The send-off of Trip’s character in an emotionally charged way /4/have been the best possible way to eliminate an unnecessary character and the move /4/even delight some fans.

The scene where Raina is finally shown as an Inhuman after having gone a complete transformation in her human body was the highlight of the episode and a riveting moment when she catches up to Cal.

The feline appearance of the Villainous Raina was very well done and the make-up artist should be hailed for lending some level of authenticity into the whole getup especially the thorns. However Raina does not seem too happy with her new-found transformation and declares she cannot live like this to which Cal ruthlessly answers then don’t!

On the other hand we also see the depth of the lunatic tendencies present in Cal when he is informed Skye is going through a similar transformation in his happiness he jumps around in Glee like a little child to savour the news.

The show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has never been subtle and has tried too hard to be a superhero/bond series, but falls a little short of its main goal. However the recent plot line is not without its own ingenuity and the good moment are getting more abundant than the bad moments during the episodes.
