A Benz coupe would soon be on its way to us with 2+2 seating, a liftback roof and styling inspired by the AMG GT
Many a times we don’t really see the point of introducing new models because they usually end up looking the same or are similar from the inside at times. Modern auto industry has widely adopted the idea of promoting modular platforms and the Mercedes-Benz line of compacts nearly offers the same purpose. The line includes the likes of A-Class hatchback, CLA-Class sedan, GLA-Class crossover but there is something missing which we would normally expect from a small car range; a coupe or a convertible. With regards to this, we might soon be in for a treat by the German auto manufacturer.
Autoblog reports that a Benz coupe would soon be on its way to us with 2+2 seating, a liftback roof and styling inspired by the AMG GT. To solidify this further, Daimler Chairman Dieter Zetsche has also reportedly supported the development. Intending to compete with the likes of the the Audi TT and BMW 2 Series, this two-door model could be on the roads as soon as 2019. We are also very much looking forward to a convertible in the future.
Reports have further stated that this new two-door Benz ride would be designed on Mercedes’ next-gen, front-wheel-drive compact platform which leaves enough room for greater noticeable modifications for future models.
Any Benz model coming without its AMG version is usually a big no-no and hence we are pretty much also expecting that to roll out soon with this one.
