Microsoft has launched the Preview version of Office 2016 for the Mac, allowing Apple users to experience the latest version of its productivity suite. True to the Microsoft’s cloud-first strategy, the new Office 2016 Mac Preview is powered by the cloud, giving you access to documents and other files on the fly through OneDrive and SharePoint. 

Microsoft says that Office 2016 for the Mac has an unmistakable Office experience; the suite is designed to take advantage of the Mac’s capabilities. For example, the productivity applications—Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook—are optimized to support Apple’s retina display. Furthermore, Microsoft redesigned a lot of features such as the ribbon and the task pane. 

Microsoft Word is now more powerful, featuring a new design tab and navigation pane that lets you manage colors, fonts, layouts, document structure. Microsoft has added threaded comments which make editing fun and easy. Microsoft Excel now creates charts and graphics in a breeze, and the new Analysis ToolPak brings more statistical functions like PivotTable Slicers and exponential smoothing. 

Additionally, PowerPoint now has a new Presenter View, which, Microsoft says, acts like a mission control for presentations, displaying slides, notes, and timer on the Mac. Also, a new animation pane creates presentations faster. Microsoft also updated Outlook and OneNote, adding a few nifty features and bug fixes.
