The Lumia 730 was specifically selected because of its 5MP front-facing camera
We really don’t think there is anyone out there who hasn’t been a part of a selfie or hasn’t taken one during the past few years. The craze seems to have taken a lot of hype and is now accepted as a norm in all societies. And thanks to a selfie, Microsoft finally has something to brag about which would pique the interest of the younger generation as it sets the record for the world’s most populated selfie. Microsoft held an even in Bangladesh as part of its promotional campaign and it paired up with Coca Cola to allow the citizens to register for the event. The event was basically aimed towards setting up a new world record and it managed to get the first official world record of unique number of people captured in a single selfie photo.
The event was scheduled for November 22nd and was arranged at the Bashundhara City Shopping Mall where participants checked in on the registration booth and an accurate head count was done for the picture. The registering participants were allowed to win free prizes for taking part in the record attempt.
The event was a promotional campaign for the Lumia 730 smartphone which has been launched recently and of course with an event of this nature, Microsoft wanted to focus on the camera of the phone. The Lumia 730 features a 5 MP front shooter which is why it is being called as the “selfie phone.”
