Microsoft’s Office Lens Mobile Scanner Officially Launches on Android

It’s pretty amazing how today’s mobile apps are making our life easier and better. One example of a great app is Office Lens by Microsoft, a mobile scanner that works like a real scanner—it automatically adjusts images and documents to give you the best view. I’ve downloaded the app on my iPhone, and it’s really good.

Originally, Microsoft released the app on Windows Phone devices. Then, Microsoft launched the app on iOS in April. Android users, however, were able to test app by downloading a preview version. But you don’t need to do that now as Office Lens is finally out of preview on Android.

You /4/download the app on your Android phone or tablet by heading to the Google Play Store. Apparently, Microsoft is overwhelmed by the number of downloads—around 70,000 users tested the preview version on Android while 1.3 million users installed the app on their iOS devices. The app has over 3.5 million downloads on Windows Phone.

What’s interesting about Office Lens is its capability to recognize corners of a document or whiteboard. It then automatically crops, straightens, enhances and cleans up the image or document, then gives you an option to save it on OneNote or OneDrive for easy retrieval from any device. There’s also an option to save files as PDF or Word documents, which means that you can also edit them.
