Misfit announces Apple Watch Workout Coaching App

Misfit, known to make its own wearable devices, adopts the largest smartwatch platform with a Workout Coaching app.

Misfit is a maker of sleep trackers and activity tracking smartbands. The company has announced today an Apple Watch App named MisFit Minute. The Misfit Minute app is an automated workout coaching app. Users can select a time interval of 1, 4, or 7 minutes and receive a recommendation of a total body workout that incorporates a variety of body-weight exercises and high intensity circuit training to build strength and burn calories.  No two workouts are the same, and each workout incorporates exercises that target different areas of the body.

To stay motivated, users can track progress over time and see past workout history.  Like a real coach, Misfit Minute includes encouraging and inspirational messages to reward and delight users.

“Exercise is one of the most powerful medicines we have,” said Matthew Diamond, MD, PhD, sports medicine physician and medical director at Misfit.  “Research has shown that you don’t need to spend hours working out or use elaborate gym equipment – even small doses of simple exercises using just your own body weight have been shown to have a tremendous impact on your health.”
Many wearable device manufacturer will soon realize that their hardware game is a dead end. Misfit is one of the first wearable device makers that adopt the Apple Watch. With an estimated 2 million units sold during pre-order the Apple Watch will be the largest smartwatch platform by far from the get-go.
