Long term success of smartwatch in doubt
The long awaited arrival of the Apple Watch could come as early as March of this year and consumers certainly cannot wait. Market strategists and analysts are seeing somewhat a rise in overall Apple revenue success when the Apple Watch hits the market. There also have been some insiders saying that if the Apple Watch is able to take off in China that sales could certainly skyrocket and that it could boost the overall smartwatch market to one of $33 billion yearly over the course of the next five years.
These new numbers certainly should make Apple and the Apple Watch developers very excited. Some industry and market insiders are saying though that the Apple Watch serves very few functions and that it will not be able to sustain itself like other Apple products such as the iPod, iPad, and iPhone. While the Apple Watch does have the same functions as other mobile devices such as reading emails and communicating, there will be a part of the consumer society that will have no idea about getting the full function and accessibility that the Apple Watch provides. While the new health monitoring and workout help that the Apple Watch features will be enticing to some, a vast majority of people would not have any interest in that kind of thing.
A recently study of 2,200 smartwatch owners in the United States and the United Kingdom showed that roughly a quarter of them had not set their watches to receive push notifications and the apps for them. The study said that in order for the Apple Watch to have any functionality that a user should download at least three apps. The study said about 14 percent had done just that. Then there are the senior citizens. While there have been an increasing amount of seniors who are trying to stay healthy and would be interested in the health band aspect of the Apple Watch, it is a very small percentage of the overall society.
While the Apple Watch should have a very solid start when it is released here in the next couple of months, there is some doubt about its long term success. Analysts are saying for long term success to happen for the Apple Watch, they are going to have to incorporate more apps and functions that will satisfy all demographics and ages of society.
