20th Century Fox will be making the ‘Alien’ sequel with Neill Blomkamp.

Two months before when Neill Blomkamp had posted a picture of an alien on his Instagram account and stated that he was working on in it but now he won’t, fans were quite disappointed. Fans wrote on his account that they would love to see Neill making an alien movie and that he needs to get over Prometheus.

Was working on this. Don’t think I am anymore. Love it though. #alien #xenomorph

Finally it seems that the fans will get what they wanted as Neill Blomkamp posted another picture of a titular alien on his Instagram and stated that ‘Alien’ will be his next film. Neill even tweeted that his next film will be ‘Alien’. The fans seem quite happy from this news and can’t wait for the movie to come out.

Um… So I think it’s officially my next film. #alien

Well, the movie will be taken up by 20th Century Fox and Fox will release the film with the original “Alien” director Ridley Scott acting as producer. Although the cast has not been finalized yet, Sigourney Weaver, the star of the earlier Alien movies, has expressed her interest in signing on to another turn as Ellen Ripley.

Moreover in January, Neill had released a number of conceptual artworks from an ‘Alien’ sequel which he had been working on during downtime from editing ‘Chappie’ his next film. The love that Neil has for aliens and making movies on them is well known. Even in an interview he stated that he had wanted to make an ‘Alien’ film for years now.

And Doug Williams – maybe I’ll go back to it ….love the world

The first ever Alien movie was released in 1979 which was then followed by another one in 1986 with Weaver returning for another face-off against the aliens. Later two more direct sequels, Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection followed in 1992 and 1997 respectively. However these two movies did not get the fame like the first two and so the movie franchise combined the genre with the Predator movies for 2004’s Alien VS. Predator and 2007’s Alien VS. Predator: Requiem.

However its quite surprising that Neill is ready to work with a franchise as he has stated in the past that he doesn’t know whether getting involved with a franchise is the best thing for him or not. This he explained was because when studios get involved with franchises they only think of money and so they take away a lot of interesting ideas. Let’s see whether Neill is able to keep his ‘Alien’ ideas in the movie or not.

Moreover it seems that this ‘Alien’ film will be seen after ‘Prometheus 2’ which is a sequel to the ‘Alien’ spinoff ‘Prometheus’ and will be seen in 2016. Plus the interesting thing is that neither ‘Prometheus 2’ nor Neill’s ‘Alien’ film have a script yet.

Both these movies will be produced by Ridley Scott through his production company Scott Free. It is also unclear whether the alien veteran Weaver is attached to the movie or not. Let’s hope that Neill succeeds in his ambition for aliens and comes up with amazing ‘Alien’ movies.
