Netflix's Daredevil comes without Ben Affleck

The action-packed Netflix series Daredevil won’t be having Ben Affleck in it. That is why it will probably be racier and more interesting fare.

The Netflix series will be free from the shenanigans of Ben Affleck and so Daredevil will be worth seeing. The failed attempt that had Affleck in it took place a dozen years ago and thank the Lord that audiences won’t have to go through that failure.

The series features a womb, doom and gloom situation and is also full of nasty violent scenes that are emetic in nature. The usual Marvel fare is not what this series is about. However, something magical happens in the latest version. Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy somehow manages to ooze its way into the subtext and subplot of Daredevil.

Batman and Daredevil have something in common. Their guardians’ deaths have left them with something missing in the way of “love” as a source of nourishment.  But while Batman is dark, Daredevil is even darker and in fact resembles something out of a scary Gothic movie. The new characters on board the series will rejuvenate and re-invigorate the series so that it will serve as pleasurable if visceral viewing.

Matt Murdock and his sidekick, Foggy Nelson, tear up the competition with their fighting sequences and generally tough duo stance that has the villains running for cover. But the story remains pretty much the same as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles scenario.

Somewhere in his kid years, Daredevil got infected by radioactive material and ever since then life has just not been the same. Together Murdock and Nelson give the bad guys a hell of a painful hiding and manage to escape in the nick of time by saving their own skins.

The kicking and punching resembles Krav Maga or Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do and in the end resolution is something that is a must. Daredevil is all about lots of confidence and the ability to put that confidence to use against the evil forces. As a movie it succeeds and we hope that Netflix’s Daredevil series will also succeed like the movie.
