Nintendo World Championships to Return to E3 After 25 Years

We will be getting back the Nintendo World Championships. They return to E3 after 25 long years.

Looks like Nintendo are trying to win back the E3 crowd. They will be trying to win them back by starting a country wide tournament. Nintendo call their tournament the World Championships when it should had been called the country wide championship because the tournament is definitely not worldwide.

This digital event by Nintendo will start on Tuesday on June 16th. The company will also have those long press conferences which could be similar to Microsoft, Sony and other companies that use the press conference to start off the E3 week. Nintendo have their presentation just hours before the E3 expo.

Nintendo will have a massive stall this year. The Nintendo Treehouse team is promising regular video updates. The Nintendo Treehouse team revealed a lot of new information last year. And now they are also starting the Nintendo World Championships. The tournament will however be only open to US players.

Nintendo said that these regional events will be held all across America. Fans will compete in Super Smash Bros. Mario Kart 8 will also be one of the games at the event. The Finale will be in LA and that will be on June 14.

The users will get to see the tournament from their homes. You should not expect any new Nintendo smartphone games or info on the Nintendo NX console. Nintendo have clarified beforehand that they would not be talking about any of this in the event.

The E3 event will begin on June 16th but the first media briefing by Nintendo will be on June 14th. Nintendo also said that the gameplay from new titles will also be streamed through Treehouse Live stream from the E3 floor.

They also said that this year there will be a digital event too. We all remember that last year there were many games shown off in detail during the Treehouse Live stream. Fans can’t wait to take part in this year’s Nintendo World Championships and many believe this will be a sweet tournament.

“Whether you’re tuning in online or joining us at the show, we want to include fans of all ages this E3 with an innovative and nostalgic focus on fun,” said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s President and Chief Operating Officer. “I’m especially eager to bring back the Nintendo World Championships and to crown the 2015 Nintendo World Champion.”

Nintendo’s main events that will take place during E3 2015 video game trade show (June 16-19) in LA include:

Nintendo World Championships 2015

Select Best Buy locations will host qualifying tournaments for the Nintendo World Championships on /4/30 while a multi-round Nintendo game finale will be held on June 14, at the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles.

Nintendo Digital Event

It will start at 9 a.m. Pacific on Tuesday, June 16.

Nintendo Treehouse: Live @ E3 2015

The unscripted action delivered by the gaming experts in the Nintendo Treehouse and various game developers will be live streamed.

Nintendo Access: Mario Maker at Best Buy

The events will take place 4-9 p.m. local time on Wednesday, June 17, and noon-5 p.m. local time on Saturday, June 20. Attendees will receive a sweet 30th anniversary Super Mario Bros. pin while supplies last.
