The Facebook-owned VR company will be hosting an event next month, where it will reveal its next-generation VR headset.
Oculus, the virtual reality company that Facebook acquired last year, is sending out invitations to a press event on June 11th in San Francisco. The event, which is still a mystery as of this writing, bears the tagline, “Step into the Rift.”
Apart from the black background, there’s also a new Oculus Rift headset, which looks similar to the company’s consumer version that is poised to ship in Q1 next year. Oculus said that pre-orders for its new VR headset will start later this year.
The invitation comes two weeks after Oculus announced the next-generation Rift, which now features an improved tracking system capable of supporting seated and standing experiences and a refined design and ergonomics. Oculus said that its new VR feels natural to wear.
Furthermore, Oculus is expected to reveal more details of the new headset, particularly, its hardware, software, input, and lots of VR-ready games. And, while we are at it, the E3 gaming conference is poised to kick off in June. Since Oculus’s event is slated a week before E3, everything sounds promising.
