Foxconn ships 1.4m iPhones to China tips source

A source calming to be familiar with the goings on with Apple and its device manufacturer Foxconn claims that over a million iPhone 5S smartphones have been shipped to China. The source claims that the exact number shipped to China from Foxconn is 1.4 million.

The source says that the initial shipment volume doesn’t represent the sales volume for the iPhone 5S at China Mobile. China Mobile is the largest carrier in the world by subscriber numbers with over 760 million customers.

The carrier started taking orders for the iPhone 5S on December 25. “Shipping one million or more iPhones to a single carrier per month is substantial. But we have limited visibility beyond this month as Apple hasn’t informed Foxconn of the volume for the next shipment to China Mobile,” said the source.

Analysts believe that the tie up between Apple and China Mobile could mean sales of up to 30 million additional iPhones per year. No official comments have been made by Apple or China mobile.
