  • Paris removing love locks from Pont des Arts Bridge!

The French police will be removing all love locks from the Pont des Arts Bridge in Paris due to structural risks.

For decades the Pont des Arts Bridge in Paris, France has been the spot where lovers from all corners of the world come to place a lock symbolising everlasting love. However the French officials just revealed they will be removing the love locks currently placed on the Pont des Arts Bridge and eliminate the practice entirely coming Monday.

According to the city council’s website the practice of putting locks on the railing of the Pont des Arts Bridge has weakened one of the sections of the railings. The weight of the locks is apparently responsible for the weakened condition of the Pont des Arts Bridge and it poses a risk of collapse for people who use the bridge to cross over.

According to Bruno Julliard, who is the first deputy to the mayor of Paris, the officials still want people who are in love to come at Paris albeit without locks. Paris will still remain the hub for lovers to enjoy the city but the token of affections in the form of love locks will not be allowed anymore on the Pont des Arts Bridge.

Some tourists have expressed their shock and disappointment with the decision as tying love locks on the bridge is sort of an age old tradition for tourists visiting Paris. According to one Londoner who went to Paris to put a love lock on the bridge described the news as sad and disappointing as their love lock will soon be removed and vanish.

On the other hand the members of the group called the ‘No Love Locks’ are delighted by the news According to the advocacy group the practice of putting Love Locks on the Pont des Arts Bridge is a sort of ‘Vandalism’ which has been damaging the city and the effects the culture, economy and emotions of French people in a negative way.
