Petcube Apple Watch App Lets You Check on Your Pet on Your Wrist

The crowdfunded Petcube is going to offer one of the first Apple Watch apps allowing pet owners to check in on their pets at home.

In 2013 Petcube launched a Kickstarter campaign for a product that allows pet owners to watch, talk and play with their pet from their smartphone, no matter where they are. The project became the most successful crowdfunded pet product in history.

The $199 Petcube camera setup is available since a while. It supports to interact with your pet on iOS and Android mobile devices. Now Petcube announced that it will release a Petcube Apple Watch app. The Petcube Apple watch app will allow pet owners to check in and see what their pets are up to, right from their wrist.

Petcube Apple Watch app Features:

  • Get a quick snapshot from your Petcube Camera
  • Make your camera public for 15 minutes in a moment
  • Immediately know when someone interacts with your pet
  • Browse your Petcube feed on the go and get your daily dose of cuteness with the most adorable animals (including some celebrity pets.)

Petcube is on a growth path having announced a $1.1 million investment round in March. The modest funding is co-led by AVentures Capital and Almaz Capital with participation from SOSVentures, Mint.com co-founder and CTO David Michaels and a security expert, former Chief Malware Researcher at Facebook, Nick Bilogorskiy.

With the capital, Petcube looks to expand worldwide sales to brick-and-mortar retail stores in the US and Canada.

The Petcube Camera is the first gadget that lets pet owners watch, talk and play with their pet, no matter where they are. The wide-angle, Wi-Fi-enabled camera with real time video and built-in laser pointer is controlled through Petcube’s free iOS and Android applications. Petcube’s mobile apps form a community of pet lovers, allowing anyone to share pet photos, find new friends and play with publicly shared pets.

The Apple Watch goes on pre-order tomorrow. Apple’s first smartwatch will ship on April 24.
