RHOA Star Claudia Jordan Was Stressed By Bankruptcy to Extreme of Ending Her Life
When you see Claudia Jordan‘s beautiful smile you might think she has always been happy throughout her life. The Real Housewives of Atlanta has disclosed that her life has not been a bed of roses.
According to Radar, the star availed court documents that indicate that she had applied for bankruptcy in 2012 as stated in chapter 13 when her financial wells ran out of money. Unfortunately for the former Celebrity Apprentice All-Stars contestant, her wish was not granted because the court declined her application.
The experience left the Deal Or No Deal beauty queen devastated. She actually did not know what to do next because her life was going down the drain.
The thought of losing all that she had acquired over the years and not knowing what to do pushed her between the rock and a hard place. The actress said she considered ending her own life as the only solution to her dilemma.
“I definitely had money and lost it all and got it back, lost it all again and now I’m on the upswing,” Jordan said. “I was a victim of some predatory loans, and I remember I was depressed for a while to the point I was actually suicidal.”
“I hit rock bottom,” she said. “I lost everything, including my real estate.
Things were getting worse by the day and they were all coming to play at the same time. Jordan parted ways with her husband in the midst of the storm. She was also in the list of the unemployed because her show was discontinued.
Besides that, she did not have any business to sustain her during the bad times because her estate was sold to compensate for the loans she had not cleared. In a nutshell, Jordan did not have anything or anyone to lean on.
“I was very proud of buying all my real estate on my own and (then) my show got canceled, I went through a divorce, basically I lost my work,” she added. “Everything happened at the same time and I was depressed.”
The turn of events left her without any desire to work and so she spent most of her time behind closed doors. “I laid in bed for months, and honestly I didn’t work,” she disclosed. “I was depressed and I fell behind.”
During those particular times, Jordan expected those around her to pity her. Little did she know that she was easy prey to those who saw an opportunity in her problems. Someone was determined to milk the little money that was left out of her in the name of assisting her to apply for bankruptcy.
“There was someone that came to me that said, ‘Hey, I can help you. I can thaw it out,’” she explained. “I paid him $10,000 and he started to file the bankruptcy proceedings, but then we never followed through with it.”
In the long run, the star was still left with debts to settle because she was not granted the bankruptcy. But by good luck, she was able to clear the bad debts. The star stated that some people still blame her to this day for having allowed herself to get into such trouble.
“I ended up paying off what I owed, but someone filed on my behalf and we didn’t follow through with it,” she said. “I know that’s something people like to throw in my face, but you know what, a lot of people have gone through bankruptcy.
“A lot of people have had a restructure,” she continued. “A lot of people went though foreclosure when the banks collapsed and the real estate collapsed and all that.”
“I was a victim of that,” she said. “I was upside down. I had $1 million dollars in property that I had and it wasn’t worth it anymore.”
Jordan narrated her experience on RHOA just to encourage those who are going through such situations not to give up on themselves.
“Just give me a chance and be open minded,” she said. “I’m not like the other girls. I have a quirky sense of humor. I have a smart mouth sometimes. I’m a little rough around the edges, but I am real.”
The star said she was glad to recover what she had once lost. She now regards herself as a role model to those who are suffering.
“Like I said, there’s a lot of people out there that are dealing with a lot of sadness and adversity and I want them to look to me like, ‘Wow, if she dug herself out of that hole, then there is hope for me,’” Jordan concluded.
