  • After much anticipation and hard work, Zingano finally earns her shot at the title.
  • This would be Zingano’s second chance to fight Rousey for the title after 2013.

Ronda Rousey is the most fit player in the ring and she will be defending her title for the fifth time.

Cat Zingano has finally got her wish to fight Ronda Rousey for the 135 pound title. After defeating Amanda Nunes in a three round match in which she emerged a TKO winner by the end of third round giving her a 9-0 stats for the year. This definitely caught the management’s attention and they decided that she would be the best contender to fight Rousey for the title in the UFC 182 event.

This is not Zingano’s first time that she has qualified to fight Rousey for the title. The 32 years old celebrity defeated Meisha Tate back in April, 2013 and scored a spot at the title fight with Rousey. She suffered an ALS injury after that. She had two surgeries done on her knee which cost her the fight with Rousey and her coaching spot at the Ultimate Fighter. She might have returned earlier but her husband’s suicide only delayed her and she returned this year after UFC 178.

Rousey on the other hand seems ready for the fight. Dana White already announced that Rousey would be fighting in 2015. Rousey has defended the 135-pound title thrice and this year alone, she has won eight fights by the armbar. She currently holds the numbers at 10-0. She took a limited time-out due to a hand injury but she is the favorite to win the title for the fourth time.

Dana White announced the fight between Zingano and Rousey on UFC Tonight. The fight is scheduled to take place on the UFC 182 event on January 3rd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The other fight scheduled for the same event is the  Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier light heavyweight title fight. The two fights are bringing a lot of buzz to the scene and the tournament is anticipated to be on of the greatest in the tournament’s history.
