Ryan Phillippe Only Appreciates 5 Movies From His Collection Over 30 Films

Most people tend to blow their own horn when given a chance but Ryan Phillippe chose a different path when he was interviewed by Los Angeles Times. The actor has actually starred in over 30 films for the last two decades. Despite his rich knowledge in filming, Phillippe said that there are only 5 films that he treasures from his wide pool of films.

According to Inquisitr, Phillippe started his acting career back in 1995 after he featured in Crimson Tide. The movie was starred by Denzel Washington. The actor also featured in Reclaim which was released in 2014. The film was starred by John Cusack. Anyone who has watched Phillippe’s movies will tell they are highly rated which contradicts what the star thinks.

Cruel Intentions tops the list of the films that he adores. The film was in deed a killer and it’s what actually brought him closer to Reese Witherspoon. “I’ve made 30-plus films over 20 years. And in my opinion, five of them are good,” the actor said during the interview.

The actor said there are so many challenges that are faced by people who work in the filming industry especially actors and actresses. Phillippe argued that most of the time artists don’t get what is worth the efforts they have put in the production of a film. The star said that cast members don’t have a say before the executives and so they have no choice but to take what is put on the table.

“You slave away and you work hard and you want to make something great, and a lot of times you end up disappointed. There are a lot of elements that are beyond your control when you’re an actor for hire.”
Phillippe said that Setup was the worse movie that he has ever done because it did not turn out to be what he had expected. The film premiered in 2011 and it featured big names such as 50 Cent and Bruce Willis. It was under the directorship of Mike Gunther.

“I did this terrible movie with 50 Cent. It was just a situation I didn’t want to be in. I was sold a bill of goods and it turned out to be something different, which is often the case in this business.”
The actor said he wants to be in charge of his own game because he can’t get what he deserves when he is just “an actor for hire.” As a matter of fact, the star nowadays directs his own film and sometimes features in them. The star said that he has what it takes to make it as a director. He further added that the pasture is much greener for a director than to a mere actor.
“Acting alone doesn’t sustain me the same way it used to. Which I think is completely okay if you’ve done something for 20 years. Trying something else becomes really appealing.” Catch Hell is actually one of those films that he managed to direct. He also doubled as the film’s writer and reserved a character for himself.
