Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge feature the Sony IMX240 camera sensor

The images are sharper and provide more light even in low lights

It appears that Samsung /4/have ultimately figured out that it was better off relying on Sony for its camera sensors. With the company’s Galaxy S5, we saw Samsung using its own camera sensor, but it is reverting back to Sony because both the versions of the Galaxy S6 are going to feature the Sony IMX240 sensor which /4/ring a bell since we have already seen this 16MP unit on Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4.

However, since the phablet’s introduction, Samsung has been improving on its camera setup and has even widened the aperture from f/2.2 to f/1.9. These improvements which might appear minor to us are capable of bringing drastic enhancements in the end results. The widened apertures are consequently going to improve image results in low-light photography along with the benefits of optical image stabilization.

Samsung was quite clearly psyched to introduce the Sony camera sensor on its flagship and it was beaming about how the new addition would add more light to the pictures making it easier to enjoy taking pictures even in low light and not sacrificing the quality and details.

Additionally, you are going to have better focus accents within your shots as a result of the widening of the aperture which will give a shallower depth-of-field. The pictures taken from the Samsung Galaxy S6 resemble the image quality of the Galaxy Note 4 but they appear sharper and have a slight difference between the color temperatures which might also be the result of the differences in software processing.
