Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite gets official

Samsung is not yet done gadget spamming the consumer electronics market. After announcing four new tablets at CES 2014 in Las Vegas earlier this month, the South Korean technology conglomerate is announcing the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite today.

However, the news isn’t a surprise. The tablet was previously rumored to be in the works. So, basically what we needed was “formality.”

The Galaxy Tab 3 Lite is the smallest among the five tablets that Samsung revealed this January. Sporting a 7-inch display, the tablet replaces the company’s old 7-inch Galaxy tablets. But don’t expect too much. “Lite” doesn’t really translate to high-end specs. If you’re looking for a top-of-the-line tablet, then the Galaxy Tab Pro is probably for you.

For a middle-end tablet, the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite isn’t so bad. Apart from the slim and light design, users can enjoy a decent amount of battery, thanks to its 3,600mAh battery. Under the plastic case is a 1.2GHz dual-core Marvell processor, a 1GB RAM, and an 8GB storage. Hold your breath though as there is microSD support – up to 32GB, at that.

Other features include a 2-megapixel rear camera, 3G support, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. Sorry, no LTE folks.

Samsung hasn’t revealed the price yet, but we suspect it will be pocket friendly.
