Additional information for developers gives more insight to the hardware specs and internals

Samsung’s next-generation Gear smartwatch SDK has been released for the developers to make things easier for them with help from the attached comprehensive documentation. In addition to this, developers can have sample apps and take help from some additional explanation relating to the Gear smartwatch. Samsung has also released a couple of images which are going to allow the developers to better understand the SDK.

The release of all this extra information for the developers meant that we can finally learn more about the upcoming watch. Thanks to these documents, we have gotten some insight to the design and the specs.

For starters, the watch is going to sport a round face surrounded by a metal face and a metal crown. The circular display is exactly 1.18-inches and runs on a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels – the highest up until now for Samsung. A smartwatch is of course incomplete without sensors and Samsung wants to take a lead with its bundle of sensors which include an accelerometer, a gyrosensor, a heart-rate monitor, a pressure sensor, and a magnetic sensor. The watch will allow connectivity through Wi-Fi, GPS, and its cellular radio.

Thanks to the rotating bezel, users will also be given the choice of using it to navigate around the software. It will make it easier to go through a list of items, change between different scenes and zoom in and out of images. Connecting the watch with handsets through Bluetooth connectivity is going to allow users to take calls on the smartwatch and if a phone or tablet is connected, users will also get app notifications which you can check in real time.
