Samsung has filed a patent for a dual-OS notebook
A patent filed by Samsung has been published by the United States Patent & Trademark office. The patent relates to Samsung’s idea of a dual-OS notebook that includes a phablet dock. The next-generation Dual-OS notebook will allow your phablet to be docked inside the notebook. Hence your phablet, which initially normally runs on Android will then be able to switch with a desktop OS once it is docked inside the notebook.
Furthermore, Samsung has also mentioned in that patent that it consider the application of other operating systems in the mix, which could indicate to possibility of Samsung bringing Tizen into the equation. ASUS has also made a name for itself when it came to hybrid devices like its PadFone lineup, but the implementation of two operating systems inside the same device is surely something that one of its kind. It should provide Samsung with the appropriate firepower to make a name for itself when it comes to enterprise customer.
Presumably, the hybrid solution will also make it possible for the dual OS notebook to access the internet without Wi-fi while at the same time charging the phablet while its docked. Samsung has also undergone a deal with Microsoft that will allow for Microsoft’s Android Apps to come preinstalled on all Samsung flagships. The Korean giant is really on to something in 2015. We will, of course be updating you with the latest bit of news as they come, so stay tuned.
