Samsung Smartwatch to Run Tizen OS Instead of Android

The new version of Samsung smartwatch known as Galaxy Gear 2 is said to run Tizen OS instead of the expected Google Android. This has upset the apple cart so to say. There seems to have been a change in plans and Google has been left high and dry.

South Korean giant, Samsung Electronics has just decided to employ its own operating system in its latest smart watch. This means that Tizen will figure in the Galaxy Gear 2 while Google Android will get spurned. 

Basically, Samsung does not want to let Google take advantage of its technology. It wants the smart watch to run on Tizen which is its own local operating system. Tizen is an open source platform for smart phones as well as other hookup gadgets. 

The new Galaxy Gear 2 along with an HTML5 version of Tizen will be revealed before the public eye soon. The original version of Galaxy Gear featured Google Android services. This time around it is “no more Mr. Nice Guy” for Samsung. Tizen will be the chosen one and that is final. 

By presenting its own version of software, Samsung wants a larger piece of the economic pie. Scads of web developers /4/be invited to help design material for Samsung. 

However, this is risky in itself for it /4/lead to a form of software that doesn’t meet the usually high standards. But this is a risk that will have to be taken. The use of local technology with non-native components is what the deal is all about. And with this experiment in change, Samsung will be taking a leap in the dark. 

Where the future of the Galaxy Gear 2 leads to is anyone’s lucky guess. The curved clasping smart watch is definitely a new product for a new world. It is the latest in wearable technology that includes other products by other companies such as the Google Glass.
