The Plus model is a Snapdragon 805 version of the company’s 2014 flagship
The hype from the Samsung Galaxy S5 had died down a bit, thanks to the emergence of the iPhone 6 but we were still secretly waiting for its next version. We are obviously already used to the idea of Samsung introducing multiple models for the same phone and here we have the Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus which was unveiled quietly. This Plus version is going to add up the Snapdragon 805 to the original 2014 flagship.
This is something quite similar to the Galaxy S4 LTE-A which launched late last year as a late season upgrade. And in case you are a interested buyer, you would be glad to know that this Plus version just like its predecessor a faster LTE connection in along with improved performance. The original Galaxy S5 was launched with Snapdragon 801 chipset that included a 2.5GHz quad-core processor. This new Plus model has the same processor however it now has a new core which is the Krait 450. A new GPU, the Adreno 420, is also included in the chipset which breaks away from the 3xx series.
The LTE Cat. 6 is also a major change worth mentioning here which has been upgraded from the Cat. 4 which brings a difference of about 300Mbps downloads instead of 150Mbps and the uplink remains at 50Mbps. You are certainly not wrong if you had been thinking all along that this was the Snapdragon chipset that the Galaxy Note 4 came with. Apart from all this, the S5 Plus version is similar to the original S5 which was launched earlier this year.
