The prototype was first spotted when it was being used as part of a LTE Broadcast demonstration during the French Open at Roland Garros.

You will soon be able to buy a 4k tablet from a store (and take notice that we are not considering the existence of Panasonic’s crazy 20-inch offering) because a prototype suggesting just the same concept has been spotted. It is a 12 inch tablet and it belongs to our favorite manufacturer, Samsung. The prototype was first spotted when it was being used as part of a LTE Broadcast demonstration during the French Open at Roland Garros.

The video was streaming at only 720p but the operator did some pretty amazing job with the additional windows over the top and thankfully it gave a clearer view. So far this device is merely a reference one and it is for the operators so they can perform tests with it. But it is almost impossible that a Samsung device is being used out there in the open and we fail to figure it out despite having no mention of Samsung anywhere. The design of the tablet could not have misguided us; the slate was sporting Samsung’s unmistakable design complete with the physical home key below the 12-inch UltraHD display.

We have nothing so far on the specs of this device but according to TechRadar it is going to be powered by a Snapdragon 801 processor. Well that is for now, and we are hoping that when the device does hit the markets, it will come with the newer Snapdragon 805 chip which comes with many added 4K benefits including video upscaling which can make even the 720p and 1080p clips look much better. Samsung is definitely not going to disappoint us. The company’s special tablet event is coming up in New York, the Korean firm /4/have something 4K-related to show us very soon.
