Ultrabooks have been long missing from the current scene of laptops and it has been months since any major ultrabook announcements have come out our way. The Ultrabooks were Intel’s svelte laptop platform and were designed to compete with the Apple MacBook Air and there was quite some hype surrounding their release back in 2011. But now as the 2-in-1 hybrid notebooks and dirt-cheap Windows 8.1 laptops and Chromebooks have gained greater popularity, these have long gone from any headlines.

The Ultrabook lovers will be thrilled to know that the CES 2015 is going to be the comeback event for their favorite kind of laptops because there /4/be an uptick in new releases. On its Korean based blog, Samsung has unveiled the Series 9 2015 Edition Ultrabook which like its predecessors, eschews the budget-friendly route, focusing on superior specs and design.
If we remember the previous Series 9 versions, they were larger (13.3-inch and 15-inch) as compared to this new model which has a 12.2-inch display and weighs in at 2 pounds. The power ante seems to have been downed too as this time it is coming with the Intel Core M-5Y10c Broadwell processor instead of the usual Core i5 and i7 options. It will sport an 8 GM Ram along with 256GB of solid-state storage.
The 12.2-inch display will feature a high resolution of 2,560×1,600 (WQXGA), a brightness of 700 nits, and an adaptive feature that adjusts lighting to the viewing environment. Also, Samsung claims that it runs 12 hours of battery as they have adopted the ultra power saving mode borrowed from the Galaxy S5.
