Divergent star Shailene Woodley will receive the MTV Trailblazer Award next month at the MTV Movie Awards 2015.

The new movie Insurgent of the Divergent series opened this weekend and matched the ticket sales of the first part. Insurgent has been the top grossing movie worldwide and domestic last weekend. Just in time for the Insurgent release comes the announcement of MTV that Shailene Woodley will receive the  MTV Trailblazer Award next month at the MTV Movie Awards 2015.

The 4th Trailblazer Award will be presented to Shailene Woodley by her Insurgent co-star Miles Teller. Woodley is the third woman to receive the award, which recognizes actors who are blazing a distinctive and innovative path for their Hollywood peers. Previous winners include Emma Watson, Emma Stone and the only male to receive the award, actor Channing Tatum.

“Shailene Woodley is one of the most talented actresses of this generation,” said Stephen Friedman, President of MTV. “Whether baring her soul in emotionally charged roles in The Descendants and The Fault In Our Stars or igniting our imagination in sci-fi blockbusters like Insurgent, Shailene has raised the bar for actresses navigating diverse and challenging roles professionally, while personally remaining down-to-earth and accessible to her fans.”

Shailene Woodley is best known for her award winning performance opposite George Clooney in Academy Award nominated film The Descendants from writer/director Alexander Payne. With her role as Tris in Divergent, based on the popular YA novel of the same name from best-selling author Veronica Roth, Woodley arrived at the top of the ranks of female Hollywood actresses.

Shailene Woodley will appear next in Oliver Stone’s untitled drama based on the life of Edward Snowden.

This year’s nominees for MTV Movie Awards span every film genre from dystopian universes (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and The Maze Runner) to heart-felt coming of age stories (The Fault In Our Stars and Boyhood), out-of-this-world comedies (Guardians of the Galaxy, Neighbors, The Interview, The Wedding Ringer and Top Five), real-life heroes (Selma and American Sniper) and more.

Fans will witness epic match-ups between the likes of Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt taking on funny-men Chris Rock and Kevin Hart for “Best Comedic Performance,” Rosario Dawson battling it out with Jason Sudeikis, Jonah Hill and Seth Rogen for “Best WTF Moment,” Meryl Streep and J.K. Simmons vying for “Best Villain” and Zac Efron defending his 2014 title for “Best Shirtless Performance” against the beautiful Kate Upton and teen heartthrob Ansel Elgort. Additional nominees include: Reese Witherspoon, David Oyelowo, Scarlett Johansson, Eddie Redmayne, Jennifer Lawrence, Dylan O’Brien, Emma Stone, Chris Pratt, Shailene Woodley, Miles Teller, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Evans, Zoe Saldana, James Franco, Rosamund Pike, Bradley Cooper, Elizabeth Banks and many more.

MTV also announced today that Jessie J will host the Pre-Show of the MTV Movie Awards airing live on Sunday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. ET. The live telecast of the 2015 MTV Movie Awards will be broadcasted on Sunday, April 12 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, CA.
