16-year-old singer, Shawn Mendes, is the youngest singer who is at the top of the Billboard 200 Chart. His “Handwritten” broke records to claim the #1 spot.

He is barely past his sixteenth year and already he is famous for his album “Handwritten” reaching the numero uno spot on the Billboard 200 Chart. The resultant victory of Shawn was noted via the Billboard 200 Chart not to mention Island Records and Nielsen Music.

These agencies used sales analysis data alongside other means and metrics to calculate the topmost album of the week and, guess what, it turned out to be the youthful Sean’s album.

With more than 106,000 copies sold, he was definitely the main musical man (or boy) of the week. The lad is indeed a genius in his own right for the accomplishment he has managed to get away with.

Mendes has broken the age barrier as the youngest musical artist to have the top spot on the charts in half a decade. The previous record holder was Justin Bieber for his My World 2.0 album.

Like Bieber before him, Mendes too began his talent journey from the Internet (on Vine to be exact). Mendes has released many singles including “Life of the Party”. He has already created a dent in the Billboard and Twitter Top Charts which is not a small achievement.

Besides this, Shawn Mendes has also made a name for himself on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram. And to imagine, all this signed, sealed and delivered at such a young age.

However, if there is one platform he hasn’t yet entered, it is airplay. That will take time and patience to break through barrier-wise though.

Among some of the other tracks on the Billboard 200 Chart /4/be included: the Furious 7 OST which is at #2, Reba McEntire with Love Somebody at #3 and rap artist Tyler, The Creator, with Cherry Bomb at #4.
