Sheryl Sandberg on Dave Goldberg’s Death: This Is a Club That No One Wants to Join

Sheryl Sandberg has become a part of the club no one wants to join!

Sheryl Sandberg lost her husband Dave Goldberg on /4/1st in an exercise accident when Dave fell on a treadmill and died of head trauma. Today Sheryl shared a post on Facebook to express her grief on becoming a part of a club no woman wants to join. In the post Sheryl shared a link to a story by Laura Wellington in the Huffington Post about young widows. 

Sheryl wrote nine days after her husband Dave passed away she went to her daughters soccer game. At the game she met her friend’s grandmother sitting with an empty chair and knew instantly the chair was for Sheryl. The beautiful woman had also lost her husband at a young age and had been left with two children.

When Sheryl sat down they only shared about ten words between themselves until Sheryl felt completely understood as her companion told her she was reliving her own loss through Sheryl. Sheryl stated in the post she did not even have to tell her how she felt.

Sheryl then commented how Laura Wellington is right in the post and no one wants to join the young widows club. Sheryl then shared how she is sorry for Laura’s loss and her heart goes out to all the women all over the world who have gone through the same feeling of loss.

Sheryl proclaimed she has learned from Laura’s advice and is sharing the post so others can learn from it too. Sheryl then shared her condolences and gratitude with Laura Wellington. 

Wellington in her article wrote on the loss being felt by Sheryl as she too lost her husband at the age of 35 and 29000 women in the US join the widows club unintentionally. Wellington also shared words of wisdom to deal with grief in her article.
