Simon Pegg has recently signed on to write the Star Trek 3 movie assisted by Doug Jung.
The news of the part three of Star Trek being made has been in rotation for quite a while now, the first thing that you cannot make a movie without is a screenplay of course.
As the movie undergoes its usual process of signing on the staff for the movie, the director/writer of the previous two movies Roberto Orci resigned. Orci had issues with the script supposedly and left the writing and directing.
He has been replaced however by Justin Lin who is well known for his work in The Fast and the Furious franchise. Direction was taken care of but the writing slot was left wide open so they brought in someone who was a patron writer and knew the franchise from the inside.
We are talking about Simon Pegg of course. Pegg reached his peaks of fame from acting in the sci-fi comedies on British television Big Trains and Spaced. His other works include; Shaun of the Dead, At the World’s End and Hot Fuzz, some other British movies that Simon has done exceptionally well.
That was until later when he was cast in Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol. After that Simon was also liked in Hollywood. He was cast as engineer Montgomery “Scotty” Scott by J.J. Abrams when making the first movie in the remake of the franchise.
So when ‘Scotty’ was asked to write the plot, he said ‘yes of course’. This time he’ll be writing what everyone is going to say to him as well.
Simon Pegg will be writing the new movie with the help of Blue Streak writer Doug Jung so we can expect some exceptional writing and a better movie or it could go another way, perhaps but let’s hope not.
It’s true! Simon is currently working on the screenplay for the third Star Trek film with Dark Blue writer, Doug Jung. – HC— Pegg News (@simonpegg) January 22, 2015
