NBC cancels freshman 2014-2015 season series including ‘State of Affairs,’ ‘About a Boy,’ ‘Marry Me,’ ‘One Big Happy’ and ‘Constantine’.

The NBC network recently cancelled a series of freshman shows from the 2014-2015 season namely ‘State of Affairs’, ‘Constantine’, ‘Marry Me’, ‘One Big Happy’ and ‘About a Boy’.

State of Affairs’ was the much hyped about series which saw the return of the actress Katherine Heigl to her TV roots. The drama underwent a massive marketing campaign and even generated a total of 8.6 million viewers in the start but fell off its promise as the finale only had a rating of 4.5 million viewers.

Constantine’ was a DC comic adaptation of the Hellblazer played by Matt Ryan which ended its first season in February with an average of 3 million viewers; however the show was not renewed by NBC. The cancellation of ‘Constantine’ now makes NBC the only network without a comic book show running currently.

Marry Me’ made quite the splash when it first premiered back in October but failed the keep the interest of the viewers with a total rating of 1.5 million only at the end. The show is still airing and four episodes are left but the axe has been pulled on the plug.

One Big Happy’ had quite some big names like Ellen DeGeneres and Liz Feldman attached to it and despite having a rating of 6 million on its premiere the six episode series ended with a low rating of only 3 million. The show had opened to lackluster reviews in late April and failed to bring the comedy in the LGBT themed series.

About a Boy’ had been a critic favorite since its first season but never a rating champion. The comedy by Jason Katims starred David Walton and Minnie Driver in main roles but the heartfelt rom com failed to garner much hype with the audience.

We’re just going to leave this right here. #MCMPosted by About a Boy on Monday, March 16, 2015
