Microsoft’s decision to give the Surface Pro 3 a big 12-inch screen pays off. Apple is not matching the screen-size this year in the iPad line-up.
Apple unveiled yesterday the new iPad line-up including the new iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini 3. Apple continues to focus with the iPad primarily on consumers and not on businesses. The new iPad Air 2 is super thin and powerful, but it keeps the 9.7-inch screen size. Microsoft has with the Surface Pro 3 a 12-inch tablet aimed at enterprise users. Apple is rumored to get a 12-inch iPad Pro to the market, but it looks like it will not come this year anymore.
The new iPad line-up is now pretty packed as Apple is keeping the iPad Air and the original iPad mini in the line-up.
I could imagine that Apple will bring the iPad Pro in Spring of 2015.
The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 starts at $799. At this price you get a Core i3 CPU and 64GB SSD. The iPad Air 2 with 64GB sells for $599. This new lower iPad Air 2 pricing for 64GB is the only big issue for the Surface Pro 3. Apple has removed the 32GB iPad option and replaced it with 64GB at the same price.
