  • Broadway Play to Feature the Talented Taye Diggs

The Broadway play titled Hedwig and the Angry Inch will featured the talented and inimitable Taye Diggs.

It’s been over ten years since Taye Diggs ventured into the field of Broadway Theater. But now he is to play a key role in the musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch. The previous actor Darren Criss is to head off to greener pastures in search of wilder horizons.

Neil Patrick Harris also added his two cents worth in the remake of this play and it grabbed a quatrad of Tony Awards in the process. After Harris hopped off the bandwagon, a volley of stars have entered to fill the vacuum left in the wake.

According to Variety, among these were: Andrew Rannells, Michael C. Hall and John Cameron Mitchell. But no replacement for Harris could be found. That is until now!

With Taye Diggs being the perfect substitute, he will be the first Black American to act in a chief NYC production. Others who have played a role in the other versions of the play include Michael Cerveris and Ally Sheedy. Taye began his journey with Rent and went on to win accolades for Chicago and Wicked.

His “A Soldier’s Play” which came before public view a decade ago was lauded for its capacity to impart a lesson to the audience. Since than Taye had been absent from view. But now he is back with a flourish.

In Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Taye Diggs will be the counter foil to Rebecca Naomi Jones. The changeover will take place in July. That will be the month when Criss departs for other venues and Taye takes center stage. The world will be watching him as he struts before them and puts his best foot forward. All we can do is wish him the best of luck because he needs it.
