CEO John Chen claims Blackberry fans need the QWERTY keypad to use the phone more productively

With the MWC comes a great deal of announcements that we had been waiting to hear since ages and we finally have it covered for the new duo of smartphones which Blackberry just announced at the event. Till now we only got glimpses of what would be inside the the BlackBerry Z3 and the BlackBery Q20 but thanks to the mobile show week, we now have got plenty of details on these two devices.

The Z3 is sporting a 5 inch display with a qHD resolution and on the internal side we have the 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 chipset and a satisfying 1.5 GB in RAM and 8 GB for the internal storage. Internal storage space might seem to appear as being less considering the competing devices with vast amounts dedicated to storage spaces and we are not even sure whether this one will support an extension with a microSD card slot. The camera setup seems to be just fine for a Blackberry with 5 MP at the back and 1.1 MP for the front camera. Music lovers will surely ignore this aspect of the phone as long as they get to enjoy the featured FM Radio. Now we have all the information on the phone and we are waiting for the phone to come out which will not be before the month of April in Indonesia and will be priced at less than $200 off contract.

The BlackBerry Q20 on the other hand is great news for the fans that enjoy the Blackberry hallmark of the QWERTY keyboard with the track pad as the phone is sticking to its origins. The Menu, Back, Send and End buttons and the trackpad will be the key elements of the phone and this is certainly going to attract a major chunk of some core Blackberry fans. The phone features a 3.5 inch display and it has been claimed that this device has to offer the best email experience.

On the occasion of introducing the Q20, the Executive Chairman and CEO, John Chen, shared his delight on the new device:

“In my first 90 days on the job, I consistently heard from our ardent BlackBerry customers that the hard buttons and trackpad are an essential part of the BlackBerry QWERTY experience, that made their BlackBerry smartphone their go-to productivity tool. I want these customers to know that we heard them, and this new smartphone will be for them. Today, we’re delighted to announce the new BlackBerry Q20 smartphone, which is designed to give you the distinct experience that every BlackBerry QWERTY loyalist and high-productivity business customer absolutely loves. With the BlackBerry Q20 smartphone, you’ll get the familiar hard buttons and trackpad that you want, along with the best email service, the best keyboard experience and the best battery life possible.”
