The Dual-Sided Phone YotaPhone 2 makes its way into China

China welcomes yet another new smartphone into its market, this time, the world’s first two-sided smartphone, the Yotaphone 2. A partnership has already been established with Chinese Company JieLan that should take care of the promotion, sales and support of the YotaPhone 2 in its home market. The Yotaphone 2 is up for sale in China for a price tag of CNY 4,888 ($788). Sales are officially underway and you can purchase one straight away. The Yotaphone 2 is available across all major online retailers including tmall.com, a majority of China Unicom’s online stores and of course via official website of Yotaphone.

The dual sided Yotaphone 2 is certainly a looker. One side of the screen offers a traditional color display, whereas the other features a black-and-white Electronic Paper Display (EPD). The EPD screen uses electronic ink technology that not only consumes less energy than traditional color display, but is also gentle on the eyes.

Yotaphone 2 also comes equipped with YotaMirror functionality that allows it to conveniently project everything being processed on the color screen onto the ink screen.

It also features an exceptional battery life of more than 100 hours when in reading mode. In more normal life scenarios including phone calls, SMS and email, the device still has respectable stamina allowing it to be used for up to three days on a single charge. Lastly, the device will be modified for the Chinese market that includes compatibility with its local LTE bands and a bunch of pre-loaded social networks and messengers including the likes of Weibo and WeChat.
