Guy Ritchie’s The Man from U.N.C.L.E. first trailer shows the 60’s Cold War era beautifully. Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer play thee role of spies Napoleon Solo and KGB agent Illya Kuryak in it.
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. first trailer has been released. There is something about the year 1963 that appeals to the collective imagination. It was a time when a great many things were occurring at the same time in a cultural hotch potch of sorts. Especially the Cold War between the USA and the USSR was at its peak point.
This is the setting of the movie The Man from U.N.C.L.E. featuring Henry Cavill (think Man of Steel or Superman) as Napoleon Solo, an American agent. Superman too hung his superhero clothes to dry while he appeared in a Bond-like role in this movie.
Napoleon gets in touch with a Russian spy Illya Kuryakin, played by Armie Hammer, and the two cooperate (believe it or not) in order to fight a Neo-Nazi group. This group has access to an atomic bomb and /4/wreak havoc via its terrorist activities.
As the atmosphere and milieu reflects the dapper suit and hat age for men that was the 60’s, the ladies are shown to be sexy and suave too. An actress who acted in the movie Anna Karenina also appears in the film.
The scenes are fast-paced and very exciting since they show lots of hand to hand fighting and parties thrown by the rich and famous. The movie was directed by Guy Ritchie, Madonna’s ex-husband.
This is the same guy who once directed Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. He is not known for his feminine side. Henry Cavill gets to be in many car chase scenes and also has a panache for stealing things in the manner of an artful kleptomaniac in the trailer.
He dresses smart and is the fittest of gentlemen. The plot to destroy and take over the world by the Neo-Nazi group is foiled in the nick of time. Thus what is depicted is an attempt at averting certain disaster. Hugh Grant plays his role too in the movie.
Henry Cavill took a much-needed break from his superhuman days as superman and played a midcentury spy in the film. And he plays his role with ease and eagerness. The movie is one that ought to be seen in order to appreciate the past when things were different from the present.
While currently it is a new threat that has the world in its thrall, in the past it was the USA-USSR tussle that threatened to undo the peace of the world.
