Samsung announced immediate availability of SDK kits for the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit
We didn’t quite like the limitation of apps on the Galaxy Gear and honestly speaking this was a major disappointment we had with Samsung’s very first smartwatch. Though premium access was granted to some selected partners, the software development kit (SDK) was not made accessible for anyone to post an app.
After realizing and learning from the previous mistakes and loopholes left in the smartwatch, Samsung has made corrective action this time for the Gear 2. When it was announced this week, the company claimed having attached an SDK along with it. The “immediate availability” of kits for the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit was announced on the MWC event and the company has an SDK for the S-Health as well.
The Gear and the Gear Fit kits however have some differences. The Gear SDK based on Taizen will allow the developers to create applications that run on both Gear 2 watches (with the use of Android apps and web apps). The Gear Fit version on the other hand offers an emulator and the ability to control the device from an Android app.
