  • Tiger Woods will not be seen playing the Honda Classic.

Tiger Woods will skip the Honda Classic as he still continues to work on his game and recover from a back injury.

Terrible news for all the golf lovers, Tiger Woods will not play next week’s Honda Classic at PGA National as he has selected to take more time away from the game rather than compete in the PGA Tour event nearest to his Jupiter, Florida, home.

This is because Tiger Woods had announced a week before that he still needs to work on his game after playing only 47½ holes in 2015 and also recover from a back injury.

Mark Steinberg, the agent of Woods, informed the tournament officials (via ESPN) on Thursday that Woods will not be entering the tournament. Just two weeks ago at the Farmers Insurance Open Woods had to withdraw on his 12th hole due to lower back stiffness.

Currently Woods is undergoing physical therapy for his back injury that has cost him many tournaments and is also revamping his swing with Coach Chris Como. Woods was also spotted supporting for his girlfriend Lindsey Vonn at the ski races in Colorado.

Due to health issues specially his back injury Tiger Woods has dropped to 66th in the world as he has only played nine worldwide tournaments over the past year. Woods has withdrawn three times and failed to make the 36-hole-cut in three others due to his back injury.

Even last year Woods withdrew from the Honda Classic in the final round because of back problems and then also underwent surgery in order to repair a pinched nerve on 31st March. This surgery had cost Woods the Master Tournament and U.S Open which were the two major championships of the year. that is why over the past year the No.1 ranked golfer has only played in eight full field events and failing to finish better than 25th place.

Knowing how important health and form is for him, Woods stated that his play and scores are not at all acceptable for tournament golf and he will enter a tournament when he thinks he is ready. He also stated that he is confident that he will get back to the pinnacle of his game. Wood’s agent Steinberg stated on Thursday that woods has been working really hard on his game and will be back soon but now is not the right time.

Apart from the Honda Classic, Woods will also miss on the WGC-Cadillac Championship which is in two weeks. It is also unclear whether he would enter the Valspar Championship in three weeks or the Arnold Palmer Invitational where Woods has seven professional victories.

At the 2012 Honda Classic Woods had finished second to Rory McIlroy and during last year’s event he had withdrawn during the final round. Let’s hope that Tiger Woods gets hold of all his problems and returns back to the golfing field so that we can see him do what he is best at.
