Tim Burton to direct Disney’s Live-Action Remake of Dumbo

So Disney is betting that Tim Burton is the man who can make the best Dumbo remake.

Tim Burton is an excellent director. We can see his work in Batman, Big Eyes, Alice in Wonderland and Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. Now he will be directing Disney’s live-action remake of Dumbo. The news was confirmed by the Walt Disney Pictures president of production Sean Bailey. WSJ first reported about this news.

So we have been seeing this for a time that Disney has started to remake its classical animations. Dumbo is still in development and it still doesn’t have a release date. Cinderella was also released this week. Next year we will see The Jungle Book and Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass.

And after that in 2017, we will have Beauty and the Beast and this movie will have Emma Watson as the beauty. The new live action Dumbo film will be a mix of live actors and computer generated effects. We still have very less information about the project.

Mr. Bailey would say of the plans for a new Dumbo story. He would say that it’s a big world which would indicate that this remake will have a broader story. With Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, he made the most successful live-action movie for Disney. The movie grossed more than $1 billion worldwide.

Dumbo was made in 1941 and now it is going to be remade. The script will be written by Ehren Kruger. He is the writer for the Transformers franchise. The viewers will see that this movie which will bring the classic elephant story to life will also add a unique family story that parallel’s Dumbo’s journey.

The movie will be produced by the producer who brought us Tron: Legacy and Oblivion. Justin Springer will be working closely with Kruger. Disney has a good history with live-action versions of classic tales. The Maleficent movie went on to earn $758.4 million for Disney. Tim Burton is currently working on Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.
