Among the many offerings of Android on the wearable bench, Moto 360 appears to be our best choice; not only because it runs Android Wear, but the device is simply the best looking out there. It features a round, full-color display which is readable indoors thanks to the high resolution. You can either have the Moto 360 with a leather band or a steel link strap and in both cases, the device would look simply remarkable. Apart from sending messages and searching web through voice, you can use Moto 360 to to delete emails from your wrist, add notes to your Evernote account, or call a cab without ever touching your phone. Recently few users complained about the battery life of Moto 360 but Motorola was quick enough to address the issue and with the new update rolling the battery life has improved drastically. Motorola has also announced metal bands with champaign gold color which will cost extra.
2. LG G Watch R
This one is another round display option from Android Wear and looks equally chick with its nice leather strap and metal materials. The G Watch R has a higher resolution display and a better battery life and the good news is that Dust and Water resistant with the rating of IP67 which means it’s safe in a depth of 1 meter for up to 30 min according to LG. Unlike Moto 360 this sporty watch is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor which promises better battery life. Unfortunately it costs more than the classy Moto 360.
3. Pebble Steel
This is the thing for you if you though the Moto 360 or G Watch R were too casual. It appears to be the classiest watch available on the market and will fit right into your office attire. It functions on both iPhones and Android smartphones and it not only lets you review your notifications but also lets you dismiss them without ever viewing them (if you have an iPhone).
4. Zen Watch
Announced at the IFA this year, the Zenwatch, along with its brushed aluminum frame and leather strap, shout out the word ‘class’. The square smartwatch has tons of interesting features built inside and looks more like a timepiece than a smartwatch just like the Moto 360. It features a 1.6” display with the resolution of 320 by 320 and is powered by Snapdragon 400 processor. It comes with the color options of Silver/Rose and Gold/Brown. Its up for sale on BestBuy but currently is sold out.
5. Samsung Gear S
The Gear S is just the beefed up version of the Gear 2 and comes with its own cellular radio. This is perfect for those who wanted something which didn’t have to rely on the smartphone and could function on its own. Looking like a cuff, this smartwatch is heavily equipped with technology and one of its striking points is the 2.0” curved AMOLED display. It runs on Tizen OS and supports 3G networks. You can get this from AT&T with 2-year Contract.
6. Meta Watch M1
As far as functionality is concerned, this is a cousin to the Pebble. With an always on display, it lasts for about a week without charging and works with iOS and Android. The design might appear to be polarizing but they claim they have used the most premium materials to build this up.
7. Sony Smartwatch 3
Sony’s third smartwatch works on Android Wear and the most talked about features on this include the Lifelog integration and a two-day battery life. But that’s all worth praising on this watch. It is not just bulky but its colorful straps take it far away from a standard look and on top of everything else it is highly priced. It offers impressive offline performance with GPS and other sensors but we are disappointed with its looks. It is available directly from Google Play.
8. Samsung Gear 2
The successor of the Gear smartwatch lets you dial, answer and reject calls and also displays notifications from Android apps. The speaker and microphone let you talk to the watch and listen to music. Again it runs Tizen OS which /4/not be everyones choice. It comes with different color options and is priced high when compared to rivals.
9. Sony smartwatch 2
The followup to the Sony SmartWatch brings a lot of improvements with a better, higher-resolution display. You can get your notifications, as well as use it as a phone remote to make/receive calls, via a Bluetooth headset. The major drawaback here is that you would require Sony’s SmartConnect app to be able to work as a companion to your smartphone.
