Twitter bans Revenge Porn
  • Twitter is taking huge steps to fight and stop people from posting revenge porn

Twitter has changed its rules. It now says that users posting non-consensual nudes will get their accounts seized.

Twitter is cracking down hard and is trying to remove revenge porn on its system. It has updated its privacy policy; now people won’t be able to publish nude photos or post pictures of users engaging in sexual acts.

Both parties must be willing to post the content. If one of the person reports the other person that they have posted revenge porn, then they will get their accounts blocked. Now, people can’t post the other person’s private information on Twitter, which could include their street address, social security number, national identity numbers, or their credit card numbers, without the other person’s consent.

Twitter also said that the users cannot make threats to other users. So, threats of violence against a person or a group are going to come under rule-breaking. You cannot make threats to people based on their national origin, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, age or any kind of disability.

And now users cannot post intimate photos or videos without the other person’s consent. Twitter started working on its new policy at the end of last year. And, in this year, Twitter wanted to roll out changes to the issues.

Twitter also said that they would be increasing the number of staff members. In February, the CEO of Twitter, Dick Costolo, said that this year will be a difficult one for abusers. He also announced some new features that would be added to Twitter. These new features would be targeting doxing and impersonation.

Dick Costolo sent a memo to the whole company and this memo was intercepted by The Verge. The memo said that their company sucked at dealing with abuse. This is why Twitter has decided that they will work hard on this issue and they will seize the accounts of users that aren’t playing by the rules. Some FAQs were posted by Twitter on their site which will help the users understand the new privacy rules.
