Users can now record, edit and tweet video clips directly through the app.
Brace yourselves as you will be seeing a lot more of the video posts on your Twitter account as the social networking site has unleashed its own consumer video product with which users can record, edit and tweet video clips; all while staying in the app. Twitter has just taken over Vine and what we are thinking is that the new video service has far more charm.
Just as we are used to on Twitter, the videos, both from the app or the ones on your camera roll, will have a limit of 30 seconds as opposed to the six-second limit or the 140-character limit for tweets for Vine. While we are betting our money on the new product, Twitter says that it is dedicated to both the products.
A few days earlier we had started getting reports which stated that the new product was close to shipping and Twitter was already testing it among its employees. The product was announced by Twitter on analyst day in November but we didn’t get to hear any specific launch date. Video seems just too important of an aspect for Twitter. A few months ago we reported that Twitter was in a race against Facebook and was looking to attract more users. With more engagement in the video field, Twitter has taken another step towards a wider customer base.
Twitter’s video advertising efforts are also going to benefit by this new product as customers are now going to get more used to the idea of seeing videos in their stream.
