Unemployment extension parleys are planned to get held between Perez and Boehner. The labor secretary and speaker are to sit down together and discuss matters regarding the creation of surplus jobs.

Unemployment extension stalled in the House. The labor secretary, Thomas E. Perez, sent a missive to the speaker John A. Boehner, regarding job creation tactics. The speaker was prodded to act on the initiative. Perez made it clear that emergency unemployment extension was not just a supplementary source of job creation. It was a form of job generation measure in itself.

“You have indicated that [Emergency Unemployment Compensation] should only be extended in combination with job-creation measures, but EUC is itself an effective job creation tool,” Perez said in the letter sent Wednesday.

Perez spoke of how the stalling measures had cost the common people over 80,000 jobs while by the beginning of 2015 it could amount to 240,000 jobs. Negotiations regarding job vacancies were underway.

“We are willing to work closely with you on a number of fronts” wrote Perez to Boehner. “In addition to the large job creation impacts of unemployment insurance, the Administration would welcome the opportunity to work with you on several job creation measures that Congress could pass together with the EUC extension.”

However, the letter fell on deaf ears. Boehner’s spokesperson, Michael Steel said that Perez and the entire Obama administration had irresponsibly set these goals which were not only unrealistic but downright ruinous. The private sector jobs had been blatantly neglected by Perez and his cronies.

“Secretary Perez, and the entire Obama administration, have been aware of House Republicans’ position on this issue since December of last year: We need a fiscally responsible package that also helps to create more private-sector jobs,” Boehner spokesman Michael Steel said in a statement. “This letter – once again – does not include such a plan.”

The letter by Perez was said to be a partial solution that needed a lot of checks and balances for it to be feasible. Perez however is adamant and says that he wants to meet in person with Boehner. Perez contends that the sources of stress and conflict for the unemployed are something about which they – the privileged – are simply unaware.

“I would respectfully submit that the implementation challenges for slates pale in comparison to the day-to-day-struggles confronting the long-term unemployed,” he said.

Perez voiced his concern regarding the 70,000 odd unemployed people in Boehner’s own native state. What was to become of them? Perez furthermore said that neither President Obama nor he had given up on these downtrodden people in need of succor.

The letter Perez sent Boehner is a pretty lengthy one and goes into details of job creation not to mention several other matters. It is a sign that there are still people among the elite who care about those who are down and out. And they are good individuals no matter what their station in life /4/be.
