Gwyneth Paltrow failed to complete the $29 food stamp dare in a miserable manner. One can only guess that the culinary habits of the rich and famous are hard to break.

Gwyneth Paltrow has given up big time on her $29 food stamp challenge which she took up with such enthusiasm. Chef Mario Batali urged the famous actress to try and live diet-wise on a bare minimum of $29 to prove that the rich identify with the poor.

It was also a test of the proof that it could be done and wasn’t impossible. Among the list of packaged foods bought for a measly $29 were: a dozen eggs, black beans, peas, tomatoes, limes, cabbage, corn on the cob and whole grain brown rice.

However, as could have been judged by the delicious dishes and rare culinary delights enjoyed by the rich and famous, Gwyneth barely lasted four days on this meagre fare. Beyond that she just couldn’t continue either due to cravings or due to the taste which was bland and frankly speaking disgusting.

After day four, Gwyneth broke her challenge and had some chicken alongside some fresh vegetables and heaved a sigh of relief. Good food was a blessing and now she knew how the poor probably felt like when they had to survive on such trash.

Gwyneth has gone on record to say that her whole worldview had changed thanks to this half-attempted challenge. Now she knows how extremely painful and difficult it is for poor families to survive in America on food stamps alone.

While the food was not exactly substandard, it did not fulfill her nutritional needs and left much to the imagination as far as taste and scrumptiousness were concerned.

Gwyneth gave herself a grade of C- after going through the challenge. She was appalled at the lack of sustenance for the poor. Many African Americans and Latin American families survive on this bare minimum. Gwyneth has felt the pain of these poor and wants to better their condition.
