Susan Rice says Common Enemy unites Middle Eastern Countries and US

Susan Rice, National Security Advisor, has said that having a common enemy in the form of ISIS has united various Middle Eastern countries and the US.

Susan Rice spoke her mind when she declared that the enemy was very clear. And she said that Qatar and other US allies in the Middle East were becoming more and more united in their efforts to eradicate the terrorist threat they faced on a common basis. 

She said that these countries sent delegations which met with President Obama and assured him that they were firmly on his side. The United States is collaborating with Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Jordan and Qatar in a last ditch effort to counter the rabid influence of ISIS. 

“These were all countries that met with the president of the United States yesterday and underscored that this is their fight. Those are their words,” Rice said on MSNBC (via WT).

One thing that they all agree on 100% is that the enemy has an inhuman face and is out to get them. Therefore ISIS has to be shown once and for all that these countries and the lone superpower are not afraid of it. They will fight it tooth and nail and not rest till its base has been destroyed.  

“Yesterday in the meeting with President Obama, they came together to underscore the same message: that ISIL is a threat to them all,” Rice said. “ISIL has had a remarkable unifying effect.”

Many have said that airstrikes will be impotent against ISIS, but Rice spoke that there was no other option. The preparation of troops and fierce fighters in the form of counterinsurgency teams that will go into enemy territory and carry out surgical strikes is the order of the day. 

Without a plan that can take the unexpected into its ambit, the chances would be slim. It is a multi-pronged approach that is the best solution to such brutal terrorists who behead journalists every chance they get. 

“We will take the time to vet these fighters carefully, obviously we want to be sure those who we give our support to we have confidence in, then we will have to build their ranks and their skills,” she said.

“We have estimated this will be a matter of months before these forces start to come online in substantial numbers.”

Susan Rice had further words to say. She spoke of how airstrikes on Khorasan had worked in the past and so the option was always there.

“We think the strikes had an impact, an important impact,” Rice told Matt Lauer on  Today Wednesday. “Obviously this won’t be the last of our efforts, but this was a first wave.”

And although several other weapons and strategies lay in the hands of the US government, things will have to be taken piecemeal. 

Rice also warned that if this threat was ignored it could reach US shores in a nightmarish flashback of what happened on September 11th, 2001 when the world changed forever from a safe and secure place into a dangerous arena of contending forces.
