Walmart is thinking about extending their price match program to online offers including those of Amazon.

Price Matching has become a major thing especially as some stores like Target and Best Buy are matching online offers. Now Walmart is weighing to extend their price matching also to online offers for the Holidays. The Wall Street Journal reports that Walmart is testing the online price matching program right now and is thinking about going nationwide with it. The decision could mean deeper cuts into margins. On the other hand Walmart needs to improve it’s image of being the retailer with the lowest prices. As with most price matching programs, Black Friday is excluded. I do not think Walmart is going there and also price matches Black Friday deals of competitors.

Walmart has definitely improved their online shopping experience on walmart.com. The seem to have though issues to create growth in their brick and mortar stores. Extending price matching is sure one way of making Walmart stores more attractive. Expect also the Walmart Black Friday 2014 Ad to be exceptional again this year. The ad is key for Walmart to draw big crowds into their stores. Last year the Walmart Black Friday sale started at 6pm on Thanksgiving Day. As other retailers are opening at 6pm this year, we expect Walmart to again trump all by moving the Walmart Black Friday 2014 launch time up earlier on Thanksgiving Day. We already know that Walmart will be open all day on Thanksgiving.
