It looks like Warner Bros. and Buffalo Games are looking to team up and save Gotham City from the dastardly Joker and Riddler in the latest announcement. The games will teach preschoolers problem-solving skills while battling against Gotham’s greatest foes.

Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Buffalo Games are teaming up to create an interactive jigsaw puzzle for children aged 3 and up, featuring DC Super Friends. The 48-piece floor puzzle reaches over 3-feet wide and comes with a 3-D Wayne Industries Tower for children to find their favorite superheroes and villains alike.

Batman, Superman, Aquaman and Green Lantern make up the four corners of the game while the children attempt to find the Joker in Gotham City. Produced to teach innovative problem solving, fine motor activity, and cooperative play, the puzzle then turns into a game board when using a spinner and taking turns as the superhero.

Additionally, a smaller 24-piece jigsaw puzzle allows kids to help Batman save Robin from the Joker and Ridder’s devious antics in “Trouble in the Batcave“. Included is an activity booklet that’s used to help solve The Riddler’s brainteasers. The teasers are lessons on the alphabet and numbers, enhancing problem-solving and counting skills, and comparing shapes and situations. Like the large version, the toy is made for children 3 and up and made in the U.S.

The entire Buffalo Games product line will be available for viewing at the New York Toy Fair, February 14-17, at the Jacob K. Javits Center Center. Look for Booth 261.

So why did Warner Bros. pick the company to help sell products to parents of enthusiastic children? Based in Buffalo, New York, Buffalo Games is an industry-leading jigsaw puzzle manufacturer and available in all major retailers in the U.S. and Canada. After 30-plus years of product creation, the company’s sold over 30 million puzzles and party games.

Ben Jamesson, Buffalo Games Vice President of Sales and Marketing, seemed happy to be working with DC on the Build & Explore product line.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Warner Bros. on two great DC Super Friends products.  The popularity of these Super Heroes combined with the fun learning & innovation within our Build & Explore line is a perfect match for preschoolers.”

Quality and quantity offer children the chance to retain educational information while enjoying the opportunity to learn social skills in the meantime. Warner Bros. has consistently worked with Buffalo Games in creating large jigsaw puzzles for all ages.

But it’s not just superheroes who are getting into the 3-D action. The company also launched a game where four princesses must stop a wizard from creating a miserable mess in their castle. Both large games retail for $17.99 while the smaller “Batcave” game retails for $8.95. Other small products include Dino Adventure, Ready for School, and Dig into Learning.

Essential marketing 101 is know the product and know the audience. Toy manufacturers like Buffalo Games will be presenting at the fair in an attempt to stay ahead of what’s being put out right now. Furbies /4/be popular at the moment, but children are always looking for the next best thing. Once upon a time, Tickle Me Elmo caused mini mall riots at Christmas time.

The Toy Industry Association (TIA) will be holding an exclusive presentation at the 112th North American International Toy Fair. Media, retail buyers, and play professionals are invited to discover the latest trends in toys and to see product demonstrations on the show floor.

TIA’s VP of marketing communications, Ken Seiter explains the importance of inviting people to see the interests of consumers. “The Toy Trends Briefing represents the culmination of several months of meeting with companies to track the latest product developments in the toy industry.”

“During the informative presentation, our trends team will showcase the next best toys and games – all of which build important cognitive, physical and social skills that are critical to a child’s development, and bring great joy to kids of all ages.”

The fair will also update attendees on toy safety standards, as well as feature a screening of “I Am Big Bird” with a Q&A afterwards.

Buffalo Games and Warner Bros. are looking to reinvent the jigsaw puzzle on the Build & Explore consumer product line and create a new trend in problem-solving skills beyond the schoolbook.
